Empress sobbed, she could feel Lovelace’s pain as if it were her own. ‘I really don’t know where it is, if I did I would have returned it since. Please stop…’

She glanced at Jamila who almost blended in with the walls in her silver cloak, she could barely recognize her, where did her sister go?

Lovelace writhed on the floor in pain, her pinkie and middle finger were at an impossible angle.

‘Your memory must have been refreshed now’ the man began, didn’t he listen to anything she had said before?

‘Where is the artifact?’ His question was accompanied by the snapping of her little sister’s thumb.

Empress looked at her sister who shook her head, but she couldn’t see her in more pain.

‘It’s in the ship I came in’ she fibbed.

‘Where is it?’

‘In the Downworld’.

He turned to Jamila, ‘take case study 109 out for testing’ and with a smirk, ‘I’ll check this out myself’.

Palec woke up disoriented, with a severe headache, where was he? He went on a field practice with the twins, and… they were kidnapped.

Why didn’t the team noticed they were missing? Or were they in on it?

He brought out a device similar to the primijac from his pocket and threw it into the air. It morphed into a drone and stayed afloat.

‘Find Katerina’ he told it, ‘quickly …’ the drone some cackling sounds as it registered the command and disappeared as it flew away. He would follow on ground.

Palec had a feeling that, whosoever that took Lovelace wasn’t the same with Katerina’s kidnappers. He hoped he was right.
